About Stark Brewing Co.
Stark Brewing Company originally started back in 1994 as the Stark Mill Brewery. Stark Mill was the first brewery in the city, and was brought to life through the efforts of Brewmaster Peter Telge. Peter is a Manchester native, born and raised here in the Queen City and has been in charge of the brewery for over 20 years now. In 1999, the brewery underwent a rebranding to keep up with the times and opened back up as Milly's Tavern, named after Peter's favorite German Shepherd, who is honored in our logo. Stark Brewing Company is proud to continue its legacy as being Manchester's only brewpub, bringing fresh beer, delicious food, and great times to the people of New England.
We handcraft our beer on premise using our 15-barrel Diversified Metal Engineering brewhouse and use an all-natural process with no pasteurization or chemical preservatives. We use the best ingredients in our beers: domestic and imported malts and other grains, hops from the Pacific Northwest and Europe, pure Lake Massabesic water and yeasts from around the world.
We are proud to offer at least 18 beers on tap at all times (8 year-around varieties plus a minimum of 10 seasonals or specialties). You can bring your favorite Stark beer home or to a party by purchasing one of our "Stark Brewing Company" logo 64 oz glass growlers to go.
Our barley (which can range between 550 and 1300 pounds depending on the beer) is stirred by hand in our mash tun without the use of electric paddles and motors, keeping this a very “handcrafted” process. It’s also removed by hand with hoes and shovels, making this a labor of love.
